What if my child is small?
Don’t worry if your child is small *now* because most physical differences even out over time.
Smaller players usually have to develop better technical skills and decision making to deal with playing against bigger or older players, so when they catch up physically, they often overtake those who’ve been able to rely on their physical qualities to dominate games at younger ages.
One thing you need to do is make sure your child gets enough rest; that goes for all young players but smaller ones especially. We all know that we grow when we’re resting so sleep is key.
As well as that, your child needs to rest and take a break from the intensity of training over the summer because that’s a huge growth period for young players.
Your son or daughter need to stay focused on developing their decision making and technical quality as a priority; you can’t force physical growth, so just be patient and let that take care of itself over time.
Don’t worry!
