Played at Stoke City. Semi-professional for 15 years. Referee. Coach since 2010. I say what other coaches won’t.
I’ve been involved in football since 1988, when I started playing in England. My dad was my first coach — some of the exercises in my programs come directly from his influence.
I played for Stoke City as a teenager, then spent 15 years as a semi-professional at clubs including Nuneaton Borough, Brackley Town, Chasetown, and Bedworth United.
After finishing playing, I moved to the United States and built a successful youth soccer club with my good friend Ricky Collett. I’ve also spent years as a referee — including officiating professional and international teams — which gave me a perspective on the game most coaches never develop.
That combination — player, referee, coach — is rare. It’s why I can tell parents what coaches actually think, not what they say to be polite.
The free Parent Starter Pack tells you exactly what coaches see — and won’t say. Most parents who read it say the same thing: “Why didn’t anyone tell me this earlier?”
