Goalkeeper Training
For goalkeeper training, keep it simple, focused and intense. Work your keepers at a level which is actually more difficult than games. This means more saves, actions and movements in a short space of time.
You don’t need to bother with slalom cone drills; no keeper needs to dodge through cones before making a save. Simply focus on the actions that a keeper would make most often during a game. Examples are below:
- Dealing with crosses
- Shot stopping
- Passing and control with feet
- Striking from the ground and out of hands
By focusing on the situations keepers experience most often in games, you are preparing your keepers in a way that will give them confidence and competence when it comes to game-time.
Have fun!
