3v1 Rondo – Common Problems & Solutions
Below are the most common problems you will likely face along with solutions in terms of coaching points and advice for your players. If you encounter other problems, please post details in the comments on this page and your issue will be addressed.
3v1 Rondo:
Problem: Players lose the ball too often as receiving player is closed down
Solution: Encourage players to move constantly so that the player receiving the ball always has two passing options based on the angles of the other players.
Problem: Passes are intercepted regularly
Solution: Encourage players to pass the ball firmer. By passing firmly, an interception is less likely. A firmer pass makes the ball more difficult to control but your players need to get used to dealing with that.
Problem: Players panic and rush to pass then give away possession
Solution: Your players do not always have to pass quickly (unless there is a one-touch restriction). If there is time, they can control the ball with their sole and keep it under their foot, slowing things down and inviting the defender to commit to tackling them before they pass to one of the other two players.
