About
I’ve been involved in football (soccer) since 1988 when I started playing in England.
My dad was my coach and some of the exercises in my ‘Coach Like A Pro’ program actually come from his influence.
I played for Stoke City as a teenager and ultimately ended up playing semi-professionally for 15 years at clubs such as Nuneaton Borough, Brackley Town, Chasetown and Bedworth United.
After finishing playing, I moved to the United States and built a successful youth soccer club with my good friend Ricky Collett; some of the content in my ‘Parent & Player Guide’ is a result of his influence, particularly the psychological and behavioral aspects for players.
I’ve been the Director of Coaching at FC England Soccer Club for almost 10 years and while it is incredibly rewarding and enjoyable, I am only able to impact a certain number of players and so I am now spending more time influencing coaches and parents, so that I am able to indirectly impact many more players in terms of their development and enjoyment of the game.
I have a relatively unique background in the game, having played at a good level, been a referee for many years (including officiating some professional and international teams) and now having been a coach for over 10 years.
My knowledge and experience is wide-ranging and this allows me to connect and communicate effectively with players, coaches, referees and parents.
I spend my time between California (where my soccer club is based) and Arizona (where my wife Morayma lives).
